Hallertau

The Hallertau hop is a German variety and may arguably be the most popular German hop. The Hallertau originates from the Hallertau region of Bavaria in southern Germany and is one of the most widely grown hops in the region. It is an aromatic hop with pleasant aromas and a somewhat floral note. It is widely used in almost all Bavarian style beers including lagers, pilsners, bocks, Kolsch, Helles and Belgian ales.. The Hallertau's low alpha acids makes it an exceptional choice for beers requiring a pleasant hop aroma but not over the top hop bitterness. It's a noble variety along with its cousins Spalter and Tettnanger.
