Magnum

The Magnum hop is also known as the Hallertau Magnum and is grown in the Hallertau region of Bavaria in Germeny. This hop is also grown in the Pacific Northwest of the US. Although typically high in alpha acids the Magnum hop is a low aroma hop. It is generally used to build a foundation of biterness in beer and provides a palate for brewers too build upon. Magnum hops are used in a wide variety of beers and allow brewers to experiment with bitterness levels while largely unaffecting aroma profiles.
